FIELD: blast furnace production, namely, process for controlling cast iron melting at passing burden to furnace through intermediate hoppers of charging apparatus. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of charging burden containing coke and ore components by batches to hoppers of charging apparatus; by-passing gas to them before pouring burden material into blast furnace; by-passing gas from empty hopper to hopper filled with coke; according to pressure drop in emptied hopper before and after gas by-passing to hopper filled with coke and according to stable pressure value in filled hopper, determining current value of real coke density and coke mass change in batch when current value of real coke density differs from its mean value. Time period for gas by-passing from emptied hopper to hopper filled with coke is limited by total time interval for opening and closing release valve. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of blast furnace.
