SUBSTANCE: when smelting cast iron, rare-earth metals and strontium are added to charge materials, at least partly simultaneously with loading of fluxed agglomerate or as part of it in amounts from 0.001 to 0.7 wt % for rare-earth metals and from 0.01 to 1.0 wt % for strontium, these metals at least partly being present in the form of metal- and oxygen-containing compositions. EFFECT: improved quality of cast iron, steels, and alloys due to more intensive and complete desulfurization during blast-furnace conversion caused by optimal utilization of added metals. 24 cl
