FIELD: electrometallurgy. SUBSTANCE: the process for electroslag preparation of metals comprises feeding into an electric furnace a charge in the form of steel-making manganese slags, smelting thereof and subsequently reducing metals from a slag melt by purging it with a natural gas with graphite electrodes immersed into said melt. The reduction is carried out in two stages: the slag melt is first purged with natural gas in an amount of 2-3 by weight of the charge, the resulting metal is separated and aluminium-containing slags are then added to the remaining slag in an amount of 3-6 by weight of the charge. EFFECT: lower flow rate of a gaseous reducing agent higher content of manganese and lower carbon content in the metal. 1 tbl
