FIELD: metallurgy, in particular, methods for production of manganese used in smelting of metal manganese and/or low-carbon ferromanganese from new types of manganese-containing raw materials. SUBSTANCE: method includes mixing of manganese-containing raw materials with its reducer, pelletizing of charge, and melting. Introduced in charge is manganese-containing raw materials in the form of chemical concentrate of manganese carbonate and reduced in the form of screenings of crystalline silicon in fraction within 5 mm taken in ratio of 6-10:1, respectively.
