FIELD: purification of industrial drainage water. SUBSTANCE: finely ground coke is fed to drainage water where it is stirred and mixture is directed to anode and cathode chambers of device. Galvanic coagulation takes place in anode chamber when water containing coke is passed through porous layer of iron particles. In supplying the potential from external source (voltage of 6 to 24 V and current intensity of 1 to 4 A): negative to chassis and positive to current conductor in anode chamber, electroion separation process takes place when semipermeable diaphragm is available; in this case, anions are concentrated in anode chamber and cations are concentrated in cathode chamber, thus activating the galvanocoagulation process. Simultaneously, electrocoagulation process takes place. Water thus treated is mixed from both chambers and is fed for clarification. Method and device increase productivity due to optimization of electrochemical processes considerably improving the quality of water thus treated. The process is performed without reagents.
