METHOD OF BUILDING LARGE-SIZE FLOATING STRUCTURES Russian patent published in 1995 - IPC

FIELD: ship-building technology. SUBSTANCE: method of building and launching consists in building large-size floating structures on floating reservoirs 2 combined by common pontoon deck 3; reservoirs 2 are located in two or more dry docks 1 arranged in parallel. Reservoirs 2 are provided with submergence and surfacing systems. Pontoon deck 3 covers width of each dock 1 fully or partially and distance between them. Pontoon deck 3 may carry building cranes which are shifted to stationary platforms in end portion of docks upon completion of building of large-size structure. Upon completion of building of large-size structures, docks 1 are filled to take reservoirs 2 off supports and bring them out of docks, after which they are flooded in water basin till large-size structure gets afloat. Reservoirs 2 are blown with compressed air and are returned to dry docks 1 for building next structure. Pumping out the docks may be replaced by ballasting reservoirs 2.
