FIELD: medical engineering. SUBSTANCE: this self-propelled invalid carriage includes frame which carries chair and lever assembly capable of revolving in longitudinal vertical plane. In fore portion of frame and on movable end portions of lever assembly are respectively positioned fore and aft wheel assemblies made in the form of hubs with flexible rollers uniformly spaced around periphery of these hubs and whose axes of free revolution are disposed tangentially and at certain angle relative to plane of revolution of hub in such manner that traces (inclined lines) marked on road surface by rollers of rear wheel assembly intersect line markings made by rollers of fore wheel assembly. Hubs are connected to electromechanical drive which allows varying speed and direction of revolution of hubs independently on both left and right sides. This electromechanical drive incorporates chain-and-sprocket gear in which two driving sprockets are positioned coaxially relative to lever assembly whose revolving drive includes self-braking worm gear, sprocket, guide rollers and chain ends of which are connected to lever assembly at certain distance from lateral horizontal axis. Electromechanical drive incorporates clutches that allow hubs to be disengaged from at least part of drive. EFFECT: more sophisticated design. 4 cl, 4 dwg
