FIELD: electric drives. SUBSTANCE: electric motor has inductor 1 whose slots 5 accommodate winding of one phase and slots 6, that of other phase. Helical slots 7 in left-hand part or rotor 2 are inclined through same angle as helical slots 8 in first part but in opposite direction. With two-phase voltage applied to winding, travelling magnetic field is built up in left-hand part of inductor which moves, for example, from left to right to left. Axial components of forces actuating the rotor are mutually equalized under influence of these fields and tangential components set up torque to set rotor in motion. Absence of axial forces reduces thrust on shaft supports. EFFECT: improved design. 1 dwg
