FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: wire rod surface has "abnormal" structure in the form of ferrite die with carbides mainly of globular form. Layer of "abnormal" structure is closed along perimeter of wire rod surface and has depth of 2.1 - 2.7 % of wire rod diameter.
