FIELD: metallurgy, in particular, plastic working of wire for manufacture of coiled structures for rubber products. SUBSTANCE: metal cord has core made from steel wires and outer layer of wires wound on core in single direction with equally spaced coil pitch. Core wires have diameter d1 and outer layer wires have diameter d2, with di/d2 ratio being 1.32-1.59. Section of formed coiled structure is composed of two parts, with one part being circumscribed with circle of diameter D and other part being circumscribed with pointed square side A and diagonal E correlated as A+E=D. EFFECT: wider operational capabilities, improved quality of metal cord and, consequently, of product by increased metal cord and rubber adhesion. 1 dwg, 1 tbl
