FIELD: ferrous metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: method includes steel deoxidation in ladle and blowing of metal with argon. Prior to introduction of modifier, content of silicon and residual aluminum in melt is determined. Modifier is introduced in the form of calcium-containing materials whose consumption in terms of calcium assimilated by metal is determined from relationship Ca = (0.003-0.005)([Si] +21.2 [Al]), where Ca is content of calcium assimilated by metal, wt.%: Si is content of silicon in metal prior to introduction of modifier, %; Al is content of aluminum in metal prior to introduction of modifier, %. Calcium-containing materials may be introduced into ladle in the form of flux-cored wire. Method of ladle treatment of high-carbon steel is improved by using modifier (calcium-containing materials) ensuring more complete modification of corundum and silica inclusions, obtaining complex of nonmetal inclusions whose chemical composition corresponds to anorthite and helenite of triple system of CaO-SiO2-Al2O3.
