FIELD: pulse technics. SUBSTANCE: device has charging circuit having two charging resistors 1 and 2, switch 3 which is connected in parallel to second resistor, main capacitor 4 and second capacitor 6 which is connected in parallel to main capacitor via diode 5. In addition device has discharging circuit having main diode 7 and second diode 5 in discharging circuit of second capacitor 6, inductance coil 8 which is connected in parallel to main diode 7, switch 9 which is connected in parallel to main diode 7, analytic gap 10. High-voltage break-down circuit 11 is introduced for breaking analytical gap. When voltage in supply line changes during its positive half-period, two capacitors are discharged via inductance coil and analytical gap (soft discharging of high power). When voltage in supply line changes in its negative half-period, only main capacitor is discharged through main diode and analytical gap (hard discharging of lower power). During soft mode discharge brightness in spectrum of main elements is increased due to decreased resistance voltage losses. This results in increased sensitivity for detection of spectral lines in electric arc. EFFECT: increased sensitivity. 3 dwg, 1 tbl
