FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: fuel is burned out at oxygen excess and then fed to the combustion products obtained. Working fluid is obtained and its internal energy is converted to the work done by thrust. Before obtaining the working fluid, pyrolysis of fuel and freezing of pyrolysis products are carried out. Internal energy of the working fluid is converted to the work done by thrust by periodically repeated detonation. The fuel is fed to the combustion products until the total value of oxygen excess achieves 0.1-0.9, and fuel is burned out in the presence of oxygen at 1-4 of oxygen excess. The device comprises housing 1, combustion chamber 2 provided with inlet 3, intermediate chamber 4 having inlet 5 and outlet 6, ring passage 7 with inlet 8 and outlet 9, enclosing chamber 10, converter for converting internal energy of the working fluid into mechanical work done by thrust constructed as gas dynamic resonator 11 defined by the outer disk 12 and internal disk 13 having openings 14. The resonator is provided with cover 15 having the central opening 16 with chamfered edges 17. The cover and the surface of the internal disk define nozzle 16. The surface of the outer disk and the cover define passage 19 for exhaust. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency. 5 cl, 1 dwg
