FIELD: railway transport. SUBSTANCE: power control system has delay unit whose input is coupled with auxiliary generator and is connected in parallel with decoder input. The latter has at least four relays connected in parallel. Switching unit is connected to current regulator and includes parallel-connected relays grouped according to number of control steps. Make contact of delay unit and break contact of heat overload transmitter are connected in series in switching unit supply circuit. This system creates intermediate stage in power increment when changing over from lower steps to steps widely used in operation, thus preventing skidding of locomotive wheelsets. System reduces possibility of fires in electric motors and makes power level irrespective of quality of operation of diesel engine speed governor.
