FIELD: railway transport. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrical transmissions of diesel locomotives with self-contained heat engine, traction generator and dc motors. According to proposed method, heat engine speed is set and position of heat engine fuel feed meter is determined corresponding to current speed, position of fuel meter and speed governor and heat load are set in proportion to preset heat engine speed and compared with determined position, and mismatch value is integrated in time, traction generator voltage is measured and compared with setting value. Basing on mismatch value, traction generator field current is changed, and power output of traction generator is set proportionally to measured speed of heat engine and is summed up with result of integration of m is match value of measured and preset positions of meter and load of heat engine and result of summing up is taken as setting of traction generator power, value of voltage setting of traction generator is multiplied by signal proportional to measured current of generator and result of multiplication is considered as measured power of traction generator and is compared with power setting. Result of comparison is integrated in time and considered as voltage setting of traction generator. Proposed method makes it possible to provide stable operation of diesel locomotive at full power output of diesel engine and constant power value corresponding to maximum economy and to implement principle of maintaining quasiconstant voltage across traction motors at skidding.
