FIELD: railway transport. SUBSTANCE: according to proposed method, positions of fuel feed metering element of speed governor and load are set in proportion to preset speed of heat engine, results are compared with measured positions, error is integrated in time and is considered as output voltage setting value of synchronous generator. Generator field current is changed basing of deviation on its voltage from setting value. Power of generator is distributed among wheelset motors. For this purpose power of each electric motor, as a function of vertical loads on wheelsets, minimum speed of electric motor, power of generator, direction of running and preset speed of heat engine, is set. Basing on deviation of motor power from set power, setting of output voltage of controlled rectifier is determined, and phase control of rectifier output voltage is carried out. EFFECT: improved traction properties of diesel locomotive, provision of complete use of adhesion weight over entire speed range. 4 dwg
