FIELD: measurement technology. SUBSTANCE: device has setting inserts made in form of cylinders stepped over length. End face of smaller diameter step of cylinder engages with surface of shaft under checking, and end face of larger diameter step engages with spring installed coaxially with stepped cylinder. In process of adjustment for required size, stepped cylinder can be shifted axially. In process of checking, stepped cylinder is held stationary by spring. Indicator head is installed coaxially with stepped cylinder. Measuring probe of indicator head engages with end face of cylinder larger diameter step, thus providing for checking axial position of cylinder is process of adjustment. To decrease errors in adjustment and in results of checking caused by temperature fluctuations, jaws of device are rigidly connected by half-ring made of material with thermal expansion coefficient less than that of material of device housing. Use of shaft checking device increases accuracy of adjustment and checking owing to stabilization of adjusting efforts and decrease in deformation of device housing.
