FIELD: occupational medicine; welding; eye protection. SUBSTANCE: device has composite sight window. The lower portion of the sight window is made of light protection glass, whereas the upper portion is made of liquid crystal material optically nontransparent in the absence of electric voltage. When the arc starts glowing, light filter transparency becomes lower and the operator eyes turn out to be protected from being exposed to arc action.
