FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: silencer has cylindrical housing with inlet and outlet branch pipes and convex lateral silencing baffles which define a series of silencing chambers together with the housing. The dummy bottom is streamlined. The ratio of total area of cross-sections of perforated baffles to the cross- section of the inlet branch pipe is no more than 1.0-1.2. In addition, the baffle is made up as a cone, and each baffle is secured inside the housing using a ring. Method of assembling includes positioning and securing lateral baffles inside the housing and connecting branch pipes. The baffles are secured to the metallic rod before their positioning, and then the rod is inserted to the housing. EFFECT: enhanced silencing. 3 cl, 4 dwg
