FIELD: ship building. SUBSTANCE: apparatus has a setter of revolution number, comparators for comparing revolution number of lower and upper boundaries of zone of critical speed, a unit for controlling a pitch of the propeller and a device, switching - over signals of the revolution number setter and a unit for setting a number of revolution in an input of a unit of the controller of the main engine speed. The apparatus has in addition a setter of the pitch of the propeller, the pitch being set according to combinatorial characteristic, a setter of an alternative pitch of the propeller for the range of the critical speed and a pickup of revolution number of the propeller and a comparator for comparing a measured revolution number with the set value. When it is necessary and possibly to operate in the range of critical speed values the switching device switches-over signals, fed to the unit for controlling pitch of the propeller from the pitch setters, in order to change the combinatorial pitch value for the alternative one, being significantly less, than the combinatorial pitch value, and therefore to lower a resistance moment of the propeller upon operating at the critical speed range, the last being rapidly passed, causing respectively a limitation of torsional oscillations.
