FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: device includes semiconductor meter 1 which output 2 is electrically coupled to cathode-ray unit 3 and to input 4 of mirror- galvanometer oscillograph 5. Cathode-ray unit 3 can be placed in electric circuit both in series and in parallel. Unit 6 registering temperature of head of piston of engine provided with marker of upper dead center communicates with temperature transducer of head of piston. Engine 7 is coupled to brake unit via rigid coupling 10. Meter operates by principle of frequency modulation. Change of capacitance of pickup 16 connected in circuit of generator of high-frequency oscillations causes proper deviation of generator frequency from rated value.
