FIELD: methods of nondestructive control. SUBSTANCE: quality of an article is inspected with a compact self-propelled device whose electrode measuring probe moves periodically due to a discrete-translational motion of the device along the article and comes in contact with the inspected surface. The voltage drop is measured on the portion of the article under inspection, and its linear dimension is determined by the distance between the electrodes of the measuring probe.
