FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: essence of this method resides in applying test solution, for example common salt solution, whose concentration increases from subthreshold to parathreshold one within range of 0.01 to 0.65 alternately to right and left halves of tongue both prior to and after operation. Further steps are determination of absolute threshold of gustatory identification, gustatory sensitivity threshold against background of reduction in ratio between concentration of following test solution and that of preceding original one (within limits of 1:1 to 1:0.1), defining active gustatory sensitivity range based on difference between these, collating data obtained before and after operation, and diagnosing nonrecovery of injured peripheral nerve in case of persistent lag of absolute gustatory identification threshold and reduction of gustatory identification threshold and range of active gustatory sensitivity of that tongue half which corresponds to affected half of patient's organism. EFFECT: higher accuracy of diagnosing extent of recovery of injured peripheral nerve. 2 tbl
