FIELD: protection of pipes. SUBSTANCE: device comprises a metal shell with a rolled-in end and threaded elastomeric insert with a stop member. The surface of the insert mating with the unthreaded surface of the article (pipe) is provided with sealing members arranged in a staggered order so that the members of the next row overlap clearances between the members of the preceding row. It is expedient that the insert diameter along the vertical of the sealing members be made not larger than the inside or outside diameter of the article.
