FIELD: railway. SUBSTANCE: method lies in the fact, that curvature of rails in horizontal plane is measured continuously by special aids. In so doing, temperature of rails are measured periodically by contactless temperature sensors. Then average means of lengthwise forces compressing any rail are determined using the following expression: , where F- is cross-section area of a rail; n is the number of cross-sections of the rail, where temperature Ti; is measured; Tf minimum temperature of the rail when it is secure. Forces tending to displace sleepers across the way are determined by the following expression: , where Kr is the curvature of the right rail; Kl is the curvature of the left rail; S is average distance between axes of adjoining sleepers. Means of the latter forces H are compared with admissible means for a given railway portion. EFFECT: method allows one to determine lengthwise/cross stability of a rail/sleeper grid when lengthwise compressing temperature induced forces are acted in it.
