FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: invention refers specifically to continuous casting of flat ingots with their reduction in solid-liquid state. Process includes feed of metal into clearance between driving drum, flanges and strip passing over flanges, formation of ingot in radial direction between drum, strip and side flanges, reducing deformation of ingot in solid-liquid state by means of movement of drum relative to strip, drawing of ingot with variable speed, cooling of strip with water sprayed by atomizers, formation of discrete efforts on strip in lateral direction towards flanges with the use of rollers. In process of continuous casting efforts on strip are formed over length of drum with angle of 10-30 deg counting from point of coming of ingot from clearance between drum and strip with capacity equal to 0.2-0.58 value of thickness of ingot in diametral horizontal plane of drum. Invention is meant for application at new installations of continuous casting of flat ingots. EFFECT: increased operational efficiency of process. 2 dwg, 1 tbl
