METHOD OF MAKING SKIDS AND WOOD-WORKING MACHINE FOR ITS REALIZATION Russian patent published in 1995 - IPC

FIELD: forestry industry. SUBSTANCE: for the skids production the angle of the tree falling-off is kept. The skids are made so that the in thickness is equal along all their length but they have different width on the ends. The profile of the upper edge of the skids is made concave, the lower edge is made convex. During the assembly the skids are placed one over another, with their ends, having different size, in pairs together. Thus the skids assembled in pairs have the summarized width of the narrowed and reinforced face ends of the skid. In order to realize the proposed method a wood-working machine is developed. It ensures the installation of the felling at an angle of the tree falling-off relative to the surface of the lathe table. In case of such installation, the upper generatrix of the felling is disposed parallel to the table surface. After the felling is turned by 180, the opposite side of the felling takes the analogous position. The machine ensures the simultaneous processing of the lateral surface and of one of the skid edges, the felling turn by 180 and the processing of the other lateral surface and the skid edge. The processing is carried out in succession by two movable carriages from the opposite ends of the table, by disk saws and profile milling cutters. The felling is fixed in the immovable and movable centers equipped with the mechanism of the felling rotation and its fixation. The machine table is equipped with the lifting mechanism with an extensible support. The machine carriage has bearing rollers. EFFECT: facilitated manufacture.
