FIELD: pipe rolling production. SUBSTANCE: mechanism of tongs has: movable body, on which swinging levers with gripping jaws are mounted; movable in respect to body guide with locking member. Swinging levers are made double-armed and have locking and covering bulges. In the case, opening bulge is made between axis of swinging and gripping jaw, and locking member is made biconical. EFFECT: mechanical tongs are used in pipe rolling production for gripping and holding rods at entering and exiting sides of different pipe rolling mills. 2 cl, 6 dwg
