APPARATUS FOR STRAIGHTENING ARTICLES BY STRETCHING Russian patent published in 2002 - IPC

FIELD: plastic metal working, namely straightening articles by stretching. SUBSTANCE: apparatus includes clamping heads with upper and lower wedge-shaped clamps. Clamping heads are provided with jaws for engaging with article and they are mounted with possibility of motion relative to stationary wedge-shaped members. One wedge- shaped member is secured to frame of power mechanism; another wedge-shaped member is secured to movable part of said mechanism with possibility of motion normal relative to axis of article by action of power hydraulic cylinder. Jaw of lower wedge-shaped clamp has several sections; each section is mounted with possibility of motion on surface of wedge-shaped clamp along straightening axis and it is provided with separate motion drive unit. Contact surfaces of jaw and clamp are inclined relative to straightening axis by angle corresponding to condition of self-braking. Each section is spring-loaded; its motion drive unit is in the form of ram hydraulic cylinder. EFFECT: possibility for realizing additional straightening due to imparting additional elongation to separate lengthwise portions of article. 2 cl, 4 dwg
