FIELD: petroleum chemistry. SUBSTANCE: crude petroleum comes in contact in the reactor. Some particles after regeneration are separated into particle fractions, containing particles with a comparatively high catalytic activity and low level of content of metals, and fractions containing particles with a comparatively low catalytic activity and high level of content of metals. Separation is accomplished by arrangement of remote particles uniformly on a moving conveyer belt, which passes over a rotating roll through a magnetic field having a sufficient strength and at such a speed so as to obtain at least the first fraction containing particles with low magnetic properties, featuring a higher catalytic activity and low content of metals as compared with the second one. Magnetic field with a strength of 1 to 25 kgf is used. At induction of the magnetic field use is made of a neodymium-boron-iron alloy; rare-earth metal, ferrite magnet. At separation use is made of a belt moving at a speed of 0.30 to 300.0 m/min. The fraction containing particles with a high catalytic activity and low content of metals is recirculated into the reactor. EFFECT: facilitated procedure. 12 cl, 5 dwg, 7 tbl
