FIELD: petroleum processing. SUBSTANCE: fraction is submitted to catalytic cracking in reactor with ascending zeolite-containing catalyst bed. As lift gas, petroleum processing gas containing at least 10 vol.% hydrogen and less than 10 vol.% C3-hydrocarbons is used. Contact time of lift gas with suspended catalyst particles is 0.01 to 0.5 s and content of coke on catalyst is no more than 0.20 wt %. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of process. 6 dwg, 1 tbl
