FIELD: tool making industry and other industry branches. SUBSTANCE: method comprise steps of heating a tool or a part up to a temperature value, being more, than tempering temperature; curing it over a predetermined time period and then acting upon it in a resonator by an acoustic field with oscillation frequency (2-4)kHz and with a noise level (170-180)dB in order to increase a strength of parts or tools by 2-6 times. Apparatus for performing the method includes the heating furnace 1 and a deforming unit in the form of a system for generating an acoustic field, having the receiver 6 in the form of the metallic casing 4 with the slot 7 in its wall, the slot 7 having an adjustable gap, and mounted on the wall of the casing 4 with the slot the resonator 2, having the vibrating wedge 8, mounted at a level of the slot 7; unit for feeding compressed air.
