FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: steel contains 0.01-0.04% by weight of carbon, 0.3-0.8% by weight of silicium, 0.2-0.6% by weight of manganese, 18-21% by weight of chromium, 0.2-0.4% by weight of vanadium, 0.3-0.5% by weight of titanium, 0.01-0.03% by weight of nitrogen, 0.001-0.01% by weight of magnesium, 0.005-0.01% by weight of cerium, iron the balance. Total amount of carbon and nitrogen is less than 0.05, ratio of is in excess of 15. EFFECT: improved complex of physico-mechanical properties of stainless steel as compared to known steel, enhanced reliability and service life of modern equipment manufactured from such steel and adapted for to be used in food-processing industry. 2 tbl
