FIELD: hydrothermal synthesis of crystals. SUBSTANCE: amethyst is grown under hydrothermal conditions by temperature drop method. Use is made of mixture preliminarily recrystallized from common veined quartz. During recrystallization additives of iron, lithium, manganese and cobalt are introduced into mixture. Amethyst is grown on seeds parallel to faces of large and small rhombohedrons. Working solution is used in form of solution of potassium carbonate with addition of iron and manganese nitrate. Grown crystals are exposed to ionizing radiation to impart color to them. EFFECT: increased one of the principal characteristics of jewelry quality color intensity by 1.9 B. 1 tbl
