FIELD: production of single crystals of high-melting substances. SUBSTANCE: device for growing single crystals has growing chamber in which horizontal boat is fixed. Located from above and below the boat is rod-type electric resistance heater. Heater consists of two sections connected successively in hollow of shields through wedge joint. Device has port for heat removal. Heater rods on the side of port have diameter and/or distance between them larger than those on the opposite side. Connected to seed part of boat is heat conducting rod whose other end is brought out through port beyond the shield. Rations determining the heater dimensions are offered.
