FIELD: processes of pulsating aeration of liquid. SUBSTANCE: device comprises a horizontal plate with a central hole, a tray disposed underneath with a flexible membrane secured thereto, and two vertical concentric shells installed with a circular gap. The upper part of the outer shell is secured along the plate perimeter while the upper part of the inner shell, along the perimeter of the tray. The plate and membrane form a gas cavity connected to a compressed gas source and communicating with the circular gap while the tray forms, together with the membrane, a sealed space communicating with a liquid pressure pulsator. Pulses of liquid pressure created by the pulsator cause periodical vibrations of the flexible membrane and periodical changes in volume of the gas cavity which brings about pulsating throughout of gas through the circular gap into the liquid. A high degree of gas dispersion and turbulization of liquid ensure intensive gas-to-liquid mass transfer. To intensify the process of aeration, the outer shell may be provided with longitudinal corrugations which break the circular gap into a plurality of parallel channels.
