FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: piston-type internal combustion engine has housing with cylinder, piston mounted in cylinder, crankshaft, upper connecting rod articulated to piston, lower connecting rod articulated to crankshaft; upper end of lower connecting rod is articulated to lower end of upper connecting rod; one end of lever is hinged in housing and its other end is hinged to common articulated joint of upper and lower connecting rods. Innovation of invention comes to providing the engine with bracket and axle and curvilinear guide. Upper connecting rod which is L-shaped in form is provided with additional head. Double-arm lever has slot in its center portion and pin; one arm of lever is articulated to additional head of upper connecting rod and other arm is kinematically linked via pin with curvilinear guide of bracket whose axle is received by slot in lever.
