FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines.
SUBSTANCE: proposed engine with divided cycle contains crankshaft with crankpin, crankshaft rotates relative to axis of crankshaft. Compression piston is fitted for sliding in compression cylinder and is connected with crankshaft so that piston reciprocates during intake and compression stroke of four stroke cycle at one revolution of crankshaft. Expansion piston is fitted for sliding in expansion cylinder. Connected rod is hinge-connected with expansion cylinder. Mechanical coupling connects crank with connecting rod for rotation relative to connecting rod-crank axis so that expansion piston reciprocates during working stroke and exhaust stroke of four-stroke cycle at the same revolution of crankshaft. Trajectory is formed owing to mechanical coupling along which connecting rod/axis moves around axis of crankshaft. Distance between axis of connecting rod/crank and axis of crankshaft in any point of trajectory determines effective radius of crank. Trajectory has first transition area from first effective radius of crank to second effective radius of crank through which connecting rod/crank axis passes during at least part of act of combustion in expansion cylinder. EFFECT: increased efficiency owing to optimization of geometric parameters and their combinations.
