FIELD: manufacture of chemical sources of electric energy. SUBSTANCE: alkaline cell includes cylindrical case 1 housing negative 3 and positive 2 electrodes divided by separator 4. Electrodes 2 and 3 and separator 4 are impregnated with alkaline electrolyte. Positive electrode 2 is placed in space of negative electrode 3. Electrodes have collectors 6 with active material applied to them. Densities of active material of negative electrode 3 is equal to 3.48-3.63 g/cu.cm and of positive electrode 2 1.78-1.84 g/cu.cm. Ratio of volumes of masses of active materials of negative and positive electrodes amounts to 0.76-0.91. Relationship of diameter of positive electrode to outer diameter of negative one is equal to 0.66-0.70. EFFECT: increased specific electric characteristics thanks to enlargement of useful volume occupied by electrodes. 2 dwg, 4 tbl
