FIELD: manufacture of negative electrodes of small-sized nickel-hydride cells used as power sources of portable radioelectronic equipment. SUBSTANCE: alloy, including lanthanum, nickel and aluminium, additionally contains silicon and one element of the series: titanium, vanadium, manganese at general formula LaN5-x-y-zMxAlySiz, where M - one element of the series: titanium, vanadium, manganese, x=0.1-0.3; y=0.3-0.4; z=0.1-0.2 and y+z=0.5. The cell service life increases by more than 30%. EFFECT: enhanced strength of alloy and its resistance to alkali medium. 1 tbl
