FIELD: cleaning of exhaust gases. SUBSTANCE: reducing gaseous medium is obtained by oxidation of methane in gaseous oxygen-containing medium on oxide zinc- chromium catalyst. Mixture of gas being cleaned and reducing gaseous medium is passed through oxide alumocoppernickellithium catalyst. The second layer contains, mass percent: CuO 0.8 to 3.1 (in terms of Cu); NiO-3.0 to 1.0 (in terms of Ni); Li2O-0 to 0.5 (in terms of Li); Al2O3- the rest. Volume relation of catalyst layers -(0.5-1):1. EFFECT: facilitated procedure. 2 tbl
