FIELD: catalytic chemistry. SUBSTANCE: method involves the steps of: mixing ferrum(III) oxide with compounds of promoters and grinding the obtained mixture in the presence of water, subjecting the obtained catalyst mass to heat treatment, adding petrolatum, oleic acid, ethyl alcohol and cordierite into it in weight relationship of 1:(0.15-0.30):(0.02-0.04):().12: 0.15): (0.15: 0.35), extruding into cellular structures and calcining at 850-1100 degrees C. The obtained catalyst at the temperature of 850 degrees C, volumetric speed of 17000 h-1 and concentration of ammonia in air of 10.5 vol. % with one platinoid grid increases the yield nitrogen oxide from 98.1 to 98.3-98.6% and specific efficiency from 1390 to 3020 -3060 kg NH3/t of catalyst per day.
