FIELD: sea transport operations. SUBSTANCE: passage in ice is made with the aid of two or more icebreakers running on parallel courses at shift of beam relative to each other; transport ships follow in passage made in ice in wake in astern of last icebreaker; one of icebreakers continuously makes auxiliary passage windwards relative to the main passage at a distance of about 1 to 5 cables. This icebreaker shall run in advance relative to beam of leading icebreaker in the main passage. EFFECT: enhanced reliability. 1 dwg
