FIELD: rolling of metals. SUBSTANCE: mass contains water glass, clay, chamotte and glass-containing component. The novelty resides in that the mass additionally contains wood shavings while the glass-containing component, magnesium oxide. The composition of the mass in wt.-% is as follows: clay, 35-45; chamotte, 35-45; wood shavings, 3-10; glass frit, 5-7; water glass, the balance. Glass frit composition, wt.-% aluminium oxide, 1-2; boron anhydride, 35-36; calcium oxide, 7.5-8; magnesium oxide, 4.8-5; sodium oxide, 16.5-17; silicon dioxide, the balance. The disclosed mass enables blanks, for example from heat-resistant alloys, to be rolled under preset temperature conditions without excessive and sharp cooling of metal surface.
