SUBSTANCE: a process for preparing a monomeric substrate of sealing materials by oxyalkylation of dephenylolpropane in the presence of an alkali catalyst with a mixture of ethylene oxide and propylene oxide in an aqueous medium at 89-90 C followed by separation of an organic phase and esterification thereof with methacrylic acid in a mixture of cyclohexane and toluene in the presence of p-toluenesulfonic acid and a polymerization inhibitor such as p-methoxyphenol at 80-94 C by distillation of the resulting water to obtain the final product from the solution after removal of the solvent.
