FIELD: measuring practice. SUBSTANCE: method involves forming a parallel beam of coherent radiation, illuminating the fibers to be measured with this beam and measuring the light flux after said fibers. The fibers are arranged in a chaotic order and illuminated all simultaneously, then part of radiation is singled out for at least two values of the scattering angle. The values of these light fluxes are determined by a certain formula using a device wherein an object glass for fibers is installed between the collimating system and the object, and a device for separating a part of radiation for at least two values of the scattering angle is disposed before the receiver in the focal plane of the lens, said device having the form of an opaque screen with at least two circular apertures of the same area and different radii which is installed in a plane perpendicular to the optical axis of the lens with a provision for moving along this plane.
