FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of cutting an end portion of a belt with formation of longitudinal strips, drawing the strips, had been formed, from a plane of the belt in staggered fashion; introducing a leading portion of a next piece of the belt into a space between the strips and bringing them to the plane of the belt; connecting the pieces of the belt, for example, by spot contact electric welding. It is possible to chamber the leading portion of the next piece. The belt may be cut parallel with its lengthwise edge, with an inclination relative to it, or the cuts may be curvilinear ones. EFFECT: lowered possibility of disruption of the belt due to decreased resistance at passing of the joined portions, being drawn. 5 cl, 2 dwg
