FIELD: nuclear equipment. SUBSTANCE: for provision of predominantly monoenergetic irradiation neutrons are first moderated up to thermal or ultracold energies. Then irradiated sample is moved with velocity considerably higher than that of irradiating neutrons and thanks to it path of neutrons in sample is practically lengthened by same number of times. If interaction cross-section does not depend on energy then probability of interaction of neutrons with sample rises same number of times. Proposed method makes it possible to conduct investigations on irradiation of materials with monoenergetic neutrons of various energy thanks to change of velocity of movement of irradiated material. If irradiated material has clearly displayed resonance in interaction cross-section which energy matches that (or velocity) of mutual assembly of neutron with nuclear of moving material then interaction cross-section will be determined in this case by parameters of this resonance.
