FIELD: forestry and timber procession industry. SUBSTANCE: apparatus for producing charcoal, being in the form of a steel vertical retort, provided by several mutually joined chambers, is mounted with an inclination by 40-50 degrees relative to horizontal surface of the ground. The apparatus has three five chamber-sections, separated one from another by apertural gates, providing upon their successive raising displacement of wood into each next chamber-section, being heated successively at different temperature intervals and being discharged periodically.
