FIELD: wastewater treatment. SUBSTANCE: settler has a cylindrical-tapering body and a ball-shaped baffle mounted for turning on a horizontal axle under the outlet end face of the central pipe. The pipe is secured upright in the body. In the upper part of the body there is a horizontal tray with serrated edges. Silt coming to the baffle from the central pipe is split into three flows: a flow abut on the ball surface due to the wetting effect (dropping in the central part of the settler by gravity), an intermediate flow, and a peripheral flow deflected by the liquid pressure that abruptly changes the direction round the ball giving rise to the centrifugal acceleration process.
